Nowadays more and more riders, teams, manufacturers
and experts are talking about Disc Brakes. UCI & WFSGI agree on testing
disc brakes in two events this August and September. During 2016 all brands can
test on Peloton disc brakes on every race, ride on every condition. So on from 2017 all Pro Teams will have bikes
with hydraulic disc brakes.
Some experts concerns about this new in (Pro Tour)
system about wheel changes, crash safety and overheating,
If we want to answer
in each concern we can say that as for the matter of many wheel changes, this
will not be a problem because technician will learn very well on how to do this
work. As for crash safety we have to think before say that because that system
in many times will prevent from crashes because if a road bike with rim brakes
need 30 meters to stop, a bike with disc brakes will need 15 meters. As for the
overheating you can see in photos that these Disc Brakes made by Carbon.
Shimano and SRAM have already this system ready on
market. Campagnolo is not ready at the moment but they will be later some time.
Disc brakes first time used on mountain bikes many
years before and during last two years they used on Cyclocross.
This year many brands have bikes on market with the
use of Disc brakes such as Cannondale.
Ted King a pro rider
on Cannondale Garmin Pro Cycling Team says that he ride Synapse with disc
brakes and find it very sweet. He only worried about brands that maybe not have
that system on 2017 but he think that they all will have it.
