Hands. Keep your elbows
slightly bent to
absorb shocks from the road, and keep them under your body,
not outwards. Your hands will be more relaxed if
the handles do not hold them too tightly.
Put your hands down or humps when you go fast, downhill or when riding in a headwind. Grasp the steering brake on top in easy way, or straight. Sit down and hold over the steering bar for added strength and easier breathing in long, steady uphill. Changing hand position is common to avoid continuous pressure which can make your hands numb.
When you ride standing, grasp the controls on top, gently shaking the bike from side to side in sync with your pedals. Always keep your thumb and at least one finger closed around the controls or bar to prevent losing your grip in puddles.
